The very renowned Moroccan handmade rugs and carpets were made by the Berber tribes for centuries. Berbers have lived in the Middle and High Atlas Mountains and still reside there today.

The rugs were made for different uses depending on the weather. The colors varied from tribe to tribe, according to what natural ingredients they had available around them.

Even with the mass production of carpets today, there are hundreds of isolated areas in Morocco, where women still make these unique rugs and various other products just the way they have for hundreds of years.
